Seeking Educational Equity Through Diversity

Student SEED: For undergraduate UW students

Description

Student SEED seeks to create a respectful environment for students to engage in conversations about the impact of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability and other defining aspects on their personal lives, on their communities and in society as a whole.  Unlike most UW Classes, SEED students are expected to share their own personal stories and feelings regarding these aspects of identity in order to learn from each other and learn about themselves.

Outcome Goals

  1. To authentically participate in the process of co-creating a community of social

justice dialogue;

  1. To critically reflect on and share the complexities and intersectionality of our

socialized social identities; We are especially interested in discussing these issues as

they relate to the UW campus and Madison Community;

  1. To develop a better understanding of institutional privilege and oppression and

examine our individual roles as both oppressors and oppressed.
